Which type of service will help you and your loved ones heal?

NCFDA understands that people mourn, grieve, honor and celebrate lives in many different ways. Having friends and family around you at a difficult time is the first step in the healing process. Whether you prefer a traditional funeral with a viewing or a contemporary service, our member firms want to help you make the right decisions for you and the family and friends of your loved one. Too often, people choose a fast service with little time for remembering a life lived. Having a funeral service with time to say goodbye and proper measures in place to ensure that your loved one is remembered now and in the future is important, not only for your healing, but for others as well.

Working With an NCFDA Member Firm

Our member firms know funerals and you know your loved one. We encourage you to work together with a member of NCFDA to create a memorial service that will pay a fitting tribute. Our member firms will leave the planning and decisions up to you; you can choose where, when and how to hold the service. You can choose the music you want played, the prayers that will be recited and the special services and personal touches that will help you honor a life well-lived. You make the decisions and express you wishes to your funeral director.

Funeral Ceremony

If you would like to share this moment with your broad network of family and friends, most NCFDA member firms will help you spread the word. Most funeral homes use print and online channels to bring the community together to celebrate your loved one’s life.

We invite you to visit your local funeral home and educate yourself on the options provided by that firms. Many of our member firms offers spacious chapel, life tribute centers, and can accommodate your service preferences in a meaningful location to your family.

Burial Services

If you’ve chosen to have your loved one buried, you may want the casket present at the service. Many people choose to hold a viewing prior to the service. Whichever option you choose, the funeral will work with you to ensure that you have every opportunity to bring family and friends together to say a final goodbye before the burial. Cremation Services

Many options come to mind with cremation services. Some families choose a simple cremation while others may choose to have a service from small to elaborate to honor their loved one. Please contact our member firms in your location to learn more about the cremation options available to you.

What do I do now?

While it’s important to think about the details of the service and how you’ll keep your loved one’s memory alive, it’s just as important to involve others in the decision. NCFDA encourages you to bring family and friends together to discuss you individual needs and wishes.

If you need further assistance or advice, please contact one of our member firms to discuss any concerns or wishes that you may have.
