Judson Corbin Citty, 93, of Reidsville went to be with the Lord Saturday July 8, 2023 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday July 11, 2023 at Speedwell Presbyterian Church with Dr. Charles Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. Monday July 10, 2023 at Citty Funeral Home and at other times at the residence. He was born in Roanoke, VA and was a son of the late Russell G. and Mary Alma Price Citty and had lived his entire life in Reidsville. After his father’s death in 1969, he and his brothers R. Price Citty and Robert B. Citty owned and operated Citty Funeral Home. Judson was president of Citty Funeral Home, a position he held until his death. He worked there for 69 years, making him one of the oldest active funeral directors in North Carolina. He was a US Army veteran serving in Germany after WWII. After returning to Reidsville following his military service, he worked at Gammon Furniture and Appliances repairing appliances for a few years. He could fix or build anything, and he enjoyed his time in his shop “piddling”. He was a retired volunteer fireman with the City of Reidsville with 27 years of service, and was a former member of the Reidsville Lions Club. A longtime member and Elder of Speedwell Presbyterian Church, he served as the chairman of the Cemetery Committee until his health declined as well as serving on numerous other committees over the years. He enjoyed spending time supporting his children and grandchildren in their extra-curricular activities. He was happiest when he and his wife, Betty, were spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. They also enjoyed traveling across the country and abroad with dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, R. Price Citty, Robert B. Citty, and John O. Citty. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Betty Robertson Citty of the home; son, Russell L. “Rusty” Citty (Brenda) of Reidsville; daughter, Tina Citty Moore (Dan) of Reidsville; grandchildren, Jonathan C. Citty (Emily) of Raleigh, Benjamin C. Moore (Mary Katherine) of Winston Salem, and Meredith Citty Barger (Nathan) of Graham; great grandson, Sims Moore, two future great-grandsons that are due in July and September; brother, Hugh E. Citty (Margaret) of Eden; and special nephew, Bruce Citty, Jr. and special great nephew, Robbie Citty, both of whom he worked with at the funeral home for many years; and numerous other loving nieces and nephews.
