Marvin Scott Barham Marvin Scott Barham, 85, of 209 Robin Lane, Edenton, NC passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was born in Wake County, NC on October 24, 1932 to the late Cleveland Reuben Barham and Zelma Height Barham and was the husband of Mary Ann Norwood Barham of the residence. He served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Funeral Director and the former owner and operator of Williford-Barham Funeral Home of Edenton. Ever conscious of his community and its needs, he served as Chowan County Coroner, was a member and Past President of the Edenton Lions Club, a member of Masonic Lodge #7 AF & AM for forty-nine years, member and past president of Chowan County Shrine Club and the Edenton Scottish Rite, Past Patron of OES Edenton Chapter #302, a member of the Elizabeth City OES Chapter# 44, and a former board member of Southern Bank. A leader in his profession, he was a graduate of the first class of Eye Enucleation at Duke University, past president of the Northeastern Funeral Director Association and former board member of the North Carolina Funeral Directors Association. As a member of Edenton Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon and former Sunday school teacher and served on the Emergency Aid Committee. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the Bear Swamp Hunt Club. In addition to Mary Ann, his wife of sixty-five years, he is survived by two sons, M. Douglas Barham and wife Connie of Greenville, NC and Gregory Barham of Edenton, NC; two grandchildren, Brian Barham of Charlotte, NC and Rachel Krahenbill and husband Jason of Edenton, NC; and two great grandchildren, Lincoln and Reid Krahenbill of Edenton, NC. He was preceded in death by sisters Lettie Barham, Beatrice Carter, Rozena Watkins and Elizabeth Leonard; and brothers, Naaman Barham, Linwood Barham, Clellon Barham, Robert Lee Barham, C. R. Barham, Preston Barham and David Barham. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Edenton Baptist Church with the Rev. David Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of Edenton Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
