Wallace "Sonny" Freeman

Wallace “Sonny” Harold Freeman, Jr., 69, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at
FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond.
He was born October 13, 1953, in Richmond County, son of the late Wallace Harold Freeman, Sr. and
Frances Moree.
Sonny was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Rockingham. He attended Fayetteville Technical
Community College and obtained his associate degree in mortuary science. Licensed as a Funeral
Director and Embalmer, he served the Richmond County area for several years in funeral service.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Freeman.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Abigail “Abby” Howard Freeman of the home; son,
Brian Freeman of Bayboro, SC; daughter, Nikki Freeman of the home; and granddaughter, Katie
Freeman.
Visitation will be Monday, February 27, 2023 at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Rockingham, from 11:00am-
12:45pm.
The funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 1:00pm with Rev. Carl Moree, Rev. Carroll
Anthony, Rev. Sonny Diggs, and Father Franklin Colebrook, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside
Cemetery.
